Painting Strategy

This 8 foot by 8 foot checkerboard pattern is composed of 64 individually recycled artwork panels from older work. Each panel has a cleat on the back so that it can be rotated with the others. In theory it's a painting that never has to end or be 'finished' as they can always be re-arranged or swapped out. The formal mechanics of a visually balanced image is strategic. I also think this might be why there is a history of painters playing chess and vice versa. They are both timeless games. This has been exhibited once in Raleigh North Carolina.
